Module 4: Understanding internet architecture (F/508/2279)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Understand the infrastructure required to access the internet
  • Understand Internet communications protocols and their roles in delivering basic internet services
  • Understand the basic principles of the domain Name System (DNS)

Module 5: Using internet services (L/508/2303)

Module 11: Essential JavaScript principles and practices (T/508/2294)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Understand characteristics of JavaScript and common programming practices
  • Understanding variables and data in Javascript

Module 13: JavaScript programming techniques (M/508/2293)

  • Be able to use Javascript statements to control program flow

  • Be able to use JavaScript language objects and create expressions.

Module 14: JavaScript technology extensions (A/508/2278)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Understand JavaScript libraries
  • Be able to use JavaScript and AJAX to create interactive web applications

Module 15: Applied Javascript (F/508/2282)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Be able to use JavaScript to develop interactive forms
  • Be able to modify X/HTML with JavaScript
  • Understand JavaScript security issues involving browsers and cookies

Module 16: Using GUI HTML for website development (F/508/2301)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Be able to use rapid website development tools

Module 17: Principles of networking fundamentals (K/508/2289)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Understand basic data communication components
  • Understand the role of networking hardware, and configure common hardware for operation
  • Understand the relationships between IP addresses and domain names

Module 18: Network maintenance and issues (K/508/2292)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Understand internet security issues understand principles of networks in relation to security
  • Be able to deal with performance issues affecting Internet clients
  • Understand basic networks in relation to hardware and maintenance
  • Be able to implement elements of network-based client operating systems

Module 19: Wireless networking and privacy protection (J/508/2297)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Be able to use wireless networks
  • Be able to protect privacy protection on the Internet

Module 20: Understanding project management in Information Technology (L/508/2298)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Understand project management in relation to IT projects
  • Understand the quality elements of project management

Module 21: Server side scripting on web servers (Y/508/2322)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Understand knowledge of languages used to provide database connectivity to websites
  • Be able to run own web server

Module 22: Principles of internet security (R/508/2285)

The learning outcomes for this module are:

  • Understand security issues related to internet clients
  • Understand security-related ethical and legal issues faced by IT professionals when using the internet

Requirements

There’s no formal entry requirements to enrol on this Level 3 Certificate in Web Design and Development but obviously it’s great to have a passionate interest in computers, the internet and the web –even if you haven’t learnt any web programming before.

They’ll be some basic assessment in Mathematics, IT and English involved in the assignments for this course.

Assessment

After each lesson there will be a question paper which needs to be completed and submitted to your assessor for marking.

This method of continual assessment ensures that your assessor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.

You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper. The approximate amount of time required to complete the course is 214 hrs.
